Grounding Response Lab

Compare completion, retrieval, MCP-style calls, and agent response patterns in a browser simulation. It uses synthetic context and canned responses, with no live retrieval, model inference, or tool execution; it does not measure model accuracy.

Operational verification proposal

Planned

Cross-Plane Operational State-Transition Verification

A delivery pipeline can report success while the runtime remains unhealthy. This proposal asks how change intent, delivery records, control-plane observations, and runtime behavior can establish what actually changed within a declared scope and observation window.

Proposed approach

  • Transition Verification Record (TVR): capture intent, scope, revisions, observations, timestamps, and the resulting verification decision.
  • Transition Evidence Binding: connect each observation to the correct change, resource, and time window.
  • Evidence Sufficiency Evaluation: assess coverage, freshness, consistency, and source reliability before reaching a decision.

Human authorization remains separate from verification. Missing, stale, or contradictory evidence must remain explicit in the outcome.

VERIFIED_CONVERGED
Sufficient, current, consistent evidence supports the intended transition within the declared scope.
VERIFIED_DIVERGED
Sufficient evidence establishes that observed state diverges from the intended transition.
PARTIALLY_VERIFIED
Evidence supports part of the required scope; remaining checks are unresolved.
INDETERMINATE
The evidence cannot support a defensible verification outcome.

Evaluation status

The proposal has no released evaluator, dataset, reproducible benchmark results, or production evaluation yet. Its originality, effectiveness, peer-review acceptance, independent citations, standards participation, and adoption have not been established.

Next steps

Planned milestones; no completion dates are committed.

  1. Define the TVR schema, scope boundaries, and evidence requirements.
  2. Implement evidence binding and sufficiency rules using synthetic fixtures with independently declared expected states.
  3. Evaluate all four outcomes against converged, diverged, missing, stale, contradictory, and partially observed evidence. Report incorrect success decisions and unresolved outcomes separately.
  4. Publish sanitized fixtures, provenance, evaluator versions, decision rules, and rerun instructions, then seek external review.

Architecture context & references

EOCS & architecture context

Enterprise Operational Cognition System (EOCS) connects signals, reasoning, governance, decisions, and feedback across delivery, runtime, security, and human review. It remains a conceptual architecture, with no independent system validation.

XOps and the earlier ecosystem model connect platform engineering, DevSecOps, GitOps, SRE, runtime, governance, and domain context. Binnacle remains a supporting research architecture without a public implementation or independent validation.
